The Building Inspection Department is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the City of Madison’s comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and land development code. Some of the major functions of this department include implementing city land development policies, reviewing and checking compliance of all zoning and building applications, and verifying the conformance of proposed site plans.
